I just joined the site..after I got the same treatment after 13 plus years of loyalty. Got pissed..wanted to actually start a site but someone beat to me. I glad to see so many out there really upset with this card. One financial commitment I am going to make it to myself is never ever I am going to consider AMEX. Period.

This is just bad business for AMEX..I will start shorting stocks and hope other fund managers dump this crap from their portfolios...

Any other websites where I can vent on this ugly card.

Got the sweet message..wanted to start my own website or blog, but I see someone actively doing that. After 13 years of being loyalty it is absolutely disgrace on the Amex to treat. I am closing all the accounts and determined to start short their stocks. I will send e-mails to other fund managers to do the same...this firm is going to be wiped out. How many have we not seen that once thought mighty bite the dust..

Let me know other sites where I can vent. Down with AMEX.

crappity smack Amex!!!

Stop paying your balances. Screw the FICO, it is of no use if you aren't going to apply for a mortgage. Drive them to bankruptcy and they can't come after you to recover any balance. They will sell themselves to JPMorgan by writing off the charges. So, why PAY??? STOP PAYING YOUR BALANCES NOW!!! Screw the MoFu..s!!!

After 16 years of loyalty without missing a single payment, they slashed my credit limit 80% and when I asked why they just disabled my card!! This is worse than insult. This is a CRIME!! The ba$tards changed into "bank" to get government money...OUR MONEY... and then pretending like it is all out fault (even when we were the best customers) and without notice or a dialogue taking away spending ability and also disabling the card without reason!

AMEX MUST BE SHUTDOWN! How many want to go with a class action lawsuit... for unfair business practice, betrayal of trust and faith, taking taxpayer money for bonuses while deliberately killing the US economy by reducing credit limits at the time of need... TREASON is the word that comes to my mind. These Traitors must be taught a lesson. This is America. We should not let these scumbags get away screwing America.

Why does everyone on this site use the term "crappity smack" when they are mad about something?  I've never once heard anyone use that or consider using that term in the real world, but there's been a dozen users who have used that term here over the years.

Question to someone I just called AMEX to get a copy of my notes on my file and they would not give it too me (I expected this).  Also, I had about 40,000 reward points and I was told it was not redeemable because they sent it too collections. Because they closed my account.  Okay any advise?  Thank you

I've had an Amex card since my freshman year of college, 1989.  Never missed a payment.

When the Plum card came out a couple of years ago, I jumped on board.  In the past two years, I've charged almost $114,000 on the card and paid the balance promptly each month to get the 2% discount.  Amex just froze my account demanding I send to them last years tax return for review to see if my account could remain open.  They also lowered the credit line on my Hilton Honors account from $54,000 to $4,000.  Go to hell Amex.  This is the way you treat loyal 20 year customers?  Best of luck finding new customers to replace the ones you are losing in droves.  If I ran my business the way you are running yours, I'd be out of work tomorrow...and not eligible for all of the TARP money you took!

We need your help exposing AMEX for their terrible customer service and
lack of loyalty to their customers. Thank you in advance for reading this
email.

We have been a member of Platinum American Express since 2000. We have
used our cards, which we pay a fee of $400+ each for the privilege of
spending money with them, for our corporations, our personal expenses, and
travel. Over the years we have probably spent over $700,000 with American
Express! We ALWAYS paid the balance off when due and at times at meant a
$50,000 monthly payment.

During the last 6 months, we have used our American Express cards less and
less. One reason is that we had some charge problems using the card in
Mexico that went largely unresolved for all parties because no one in
India (Which is where their call center is for this "American" company)
could comprehend the intricacies of our problem because it was quite
simply a matter best dealt with by an American. Even someone from Mexico
would have understood it better.

Secondly, we were using other cards that gave us the mileage points we
needed for an airline.

The problem is that because we have NOT been using our cards very much,
they have cut us off at $500! Now that we need it...we got cut off at
$500. For no reason. We have no payment due until July 2nd and our balance
is only $443.27. We have carried balances in the 10s of thousands in the
past and now we can only have $500. Which is less than our annual fee
we've paid this "American" company. What if we were out with clients
wining/dining and our card was declined? That would be so embarrassing.

So we called and complained. Who did we get? Some smug kid in India who
put us on hold for 20 minutes and told us that "the computer says you have
not used your card much in the last 6 months, so your balance and
available credit is $500." HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE WHEN THEY ADVERTISE
THEMSELVES AS A NO SPENDING LIMIT CARD? AND WE ARE PLATINUM CARDHOLDERS TO
BOOT!

Brinetteb, read a few of the posts on this site.  You are not alone.
The ONLY solution is to cancel your Amex accounts immediately, in writing.  You do not want these people hanging over you any longer.

After you exit, I hope you will tell us your experience on a new post.

Good luck.

From a guy with similar experience who found his credit fouled by Amex mistakes.
